This training covers both theory and practice and gives ideas to help when children are stuck. It will be delivered by teachers experienced in the teaching of phonics and early reading and writing across the range of ability; introduces skills and techniques which will support children to meet the requirements of the phonics screening check.
Session Two - Run by Gemma England and Sharon Paddock
This is the second of two sessions focusing on phonics which reference some of the same elements but with slightly changing emphasis. There will be input on gap analysis and the outcomes from a monitoring programme and guidance given on preparation for the phonics screening check including key information on the administration of the check. It will therefore be of particular importance to teachers who will administer the phonics screening test. Candidates will discuss strategies to support children offered by the trainers and through discussion with colleagues. Questions and problems from current classroom practice welcomed.
Decide which of the sessions most meets your requirements ~ there will be no need to attend both sessions unless you feel it will be useful to revisit some of the material.
