Professionals and practitioners should regularly update their safeguarding training to ensure that their knowledge, skills and practice is current and reflects changes to legislation and practice both nationally and locally within safeguarding and child protection.
Suitable for all staff requiring a refresher / update training. Participants must have completed their mandatory training before they can attend this session, and this should only be used as a refresher or update session, not an alternative to mandatory training.
This training includes information regarding recent changes in legislation and guidance, the workshop will explore the implications of these changes for you and your setting. National and local updates, E-safety & current trends, referral processes, Local Authority's procedures, the Prevent Duty and how to demonstrate British Values in everyday routines & practice.
Learning methods will include information briefing, group discussions, activities, quizzes and case studies.
By the end of this workshop you should have an increased knowledge of and confidence around:
- Key messages with regard to safeguarding and child protection
- Key pieces of legislation and any relevant changes
- Dealing with safeguarding processes and practice in a timely and appropriate manner
- How to challenge where there are concerns
- How to work in line with Prevent duty and actively promote British values.
We are offering this course to you at £20. PLEASE NOTE: Once a course is booked we do not accept cancellations. If you book and do not attend or cancel, you will be charged £30.00 administration fee. Do not attend unless you have received confirmation of booking. Please ensure that you arrive 15 minutes before the course is due to start as latecomers will be asked to leave. Please enter through the rear entrance of the building via car park and wait for an officer to allow you into the Civic Offices. Learners will be openly encouraged to do the same. Each individual is responsible for their own learning and if there is anything they feel they should raise regarding the training they should do so with the trainer during the session Each individual is expected to make a contribution, which will be valued and listened to Individuals should respect the learning environment and try not to disrupt the training There should be mutual respect within the group for individuals and their experiences Naive questions will be considered the norm Mobile phones should be on silent and not used during the training.
