Observation, Assessment and Planning for Next Steps - OAPNS-630 (2 & 12 February 2019)

Aimed at staff in PVI Nurseries and Pre-Schools, and Childminders

Outline

Session one will explore why we do observations, different methods of observing and how to use observations to make assessments.

Session two will focus on planning for next steps and how we work with parents to share information.

Description

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS OF THE COURSE.

There is a real skill in observing children and supporting their next steps. Observation, assessment and planning is not just about filling out pieces of paper but it can sometimes feel like that. It is about knowing what to look for and linking it to a knowledge of child development so it helps develop children and support your practice.

This course is being delivered over two sessions so there is a chance to take back learning and try it out in practice. It is important that the same person attends both sessions.

Both sessions will be interactive. There will be a chance to practice observing from videos and discuss challenges and good practice with colleagues.
