Introduction To Safeguarding - Bexley-603 (Saturday 13 October 2018 9:30 - 12:30)

Aimed at staff in Bexley PVI Nurseries and Pre-Schools, and Bexley Registered Childminders

Outline

This course introduces the basic concepts that underpin best practice for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Attendance on this course offers access to further, more specialised Safeguarding training through the Bexley Local Safeguarding Children Board.

Description

This training includes an exploration of personal attitudes and beliefs, together with information regarding the current legislation, National perspective and the process of making a referral to Children's Social Care. Learning methods will include information and briefing, discussion and case study

Outcomes

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this introductory course, participants will be able to:
1. Give reasons for the importance of managing personal attitudes to and beliefs about child abuse
2. Define the key principles that pertain to Child Protection practice
3. Draw up a wide-ranging list of the overt and covert signs and symptoms that may indicate abuse
4. Identify the key pieces of legislation and guidance that underpin Child Protection policy and practice
5. Explain the process of making referrals to Social Services

This is a free course. However failure to attend will result in a charge to you of £30.00. Once this course is booked it cannot be cancelled. Please arrive promptly as latecomers may be asked to leave so as not to disrupt the session.

Each individual is responsible for their own learning and if there is anything they feel they should raise regarding the training they should do so with the trainer during the session

Individuals should respect the learning environment and try not to disrupt the training
There should be mutual respect within the group for individuals and their experiences
Naive questions will be considered the norm
