Working with Parents - PPWP-600 (19 September 2018 19:00 - 21:00)

Outline

The aim of this course is to support childminders and early years staff to feel confident in working with parents to best support children.

Description

The 2 hour training session includes exploration of the key elements of working in partnership with parents, how to use reflective listening and attending skills and ways to communicate concerns to parents. There will be practical activities to enable practitioners to feel confident in communicating with parents.

Outcomes

By the end of the training participants will be able to:

Understand the benefits of working in partnership and identify the key elements to build positive relationships.
Understand the importance of listening to parents concerns and be confident in using reflective listening and attending skills
To be confident in sharing information and concerns with parents.

The trainer will focus on the specific learning and will not engage in conversations inappropriate to the task in hand.
Learners will be openly encouraged to do the same.
Each individual is responsible for their own learning and if there is anything they feel they should raise regarding the training they should do so with the trainer during the session
Each individual is expected to make a contribution, which will be valued and listened to
Individuals should respect the learning environment and try not to disrupt the training
There should be mutual respect within the group for individuals and their experiences
Naive questions will be considered the norm

We commit to speaking confidentially whilst on this training. However, if you share anything with us (during or after the training) that is cause for concern, we have a duty to follow it up. This may mean speaking to your manager, to Ofsted, to Social Care or to the LADO
